The analysis of gases produced by an organic insulation subjected to electrical or thermal stresses, provides information about the nature of these efforts, the intensity and type of affected materials. A highly reliable to detect incipient faults in electrical equipment technique is gas chromatography. This technique can identify faults as partial discharge of low energy, thermal failures of low and high temperature, arcing, over-warm-ups, etc.

The main gas that is detected in this analysis are:

  • * HYDROGEN
  • NITROGEN
  • METHANE
  • * CARBON MONOXIDE
  • CARBON DIOXIDE
  • * ETHYLENE
  • ETHANE
  • * ACETYLENE
  • PROPANE / PROPYLENE
  • ISOBUTANE

* Gas key to detect incipient faults
