This test method is used to measure and describe the properties of materials in response to heat and flame under controlled conditions

Flash point is the temperature at which the vapor on the surface of burning oil first, when a small test flame is passed through the low area specific conditions

Flash point is the temperature at which the oil catches fire and burns for at least 5 seconds.

The flash point of an oil is specified for safety reasons. A low temperature indicates the presence of inflammation pollutants lighter fuel in the insulating oil.
