The kinematic viscosity is the time it takes to flow a precise amount of liquid through a standard capillary by gravity, under controlled conditions.

The viscosity of the electric insulating oils influence its heat transfer properties and consequently the temperature rises in energized electrical equipment containing the fluid. At low temperatures, the high viscosity influence on the speed of movement, and switches power circuits.
